EFMC-ISMC 2021

The XXVI EFMC International Symposium on Medicinal Chemistry (EFMC-ISMC 2021) will be run as a fully Virtual Event, from August 29 to September 2, 2021.

Participants will be able to join the event via our Virtual Conference Center, with content accessible during and after the symposium:

• Online Sessions – Live broadcast of the scientific programme, with Q&A for interaction with the speakers.
• Replay – all sessions will be available on replay, after the event, to all registered participants.
• Virtual Poster Hall – for all participants to present and discuss their latest scientific results.
• Virtual Exhibition – to give industry partners the opportunity to showcase products and novelties.

EFMC-ISMC 2021 will cover advances in drug discovery in major therapeutic areas, including bacterial and viral infections, diseases of the brain, heart, and respiratory system, fibrotic diseases and cancer. EFMC-ISMC 2021 will also feature most recent advances in new technologies such as, artificial intelligence in drug discovery and chemical synthesis, the role carbohydrates in disease pathology and carbohydratge-based drug discovery, the exploitation of RNA as drug target, small molecule-induced stem cell differentiation, or the impact of cryo-EM on drug discovery and design. In a series of dedicated sessions, the interface between chemical biology and drug discovery will be highlighted, including topics such the use of chemical probes for target discovery, molecular imaging, and photochemical approaches. In response to frequent requests by attendees of previous conferences, two sessions will be dedicated to advances in synthetic methodology for drug discovery. Finally, particular emphasis will again be put on first time disclosures and recent highlights in medicinal chemistry.

The scientific programme will run over 5 days and will be split into two daily sessions (morning & afternoon, CEST time), leaving time in-between for participants to take part in the virtual poster sessions, to visit the exhibition and to network with their colleagues. The EFMC is the federation of the European medicinal chemistry and chemical biology community, with 26 member societies and about 7'500 members. Its biennial EFMC-ISMC is a key symposium in the field of medicinal chemistry and drug discovery, and we are convinced that it will remain such also in this digital format!
